DIVING ACROSS THE MALDIVES
A different world beneath every atoll
Stretching across the Indian Ocean, the Maldives offers an extraordinary variety of diving environments. Each atoll has its own underwater character, shaped by ocean currents, seasons, reef formations and its position within the archipelago.
In the north and central atolls, divers can explore coral reefs, thilas, channels and dramatic drop-offs, with seasonal opportunities to encounter manta rays and whale sharks. Current-swept channels attract grey reef sharks, eagle rays, tuna and large schools of fish, while sheltered reefs reveal turtles, colourful reef species and smaller marine life.
Further south, the diving becomes increasingly oceanic and remote. Huvadhoo, Fuvahmulah and Addu offer encounters with larger pelagic species, deep channels, expansive reefs and historic wrecks, creating a very different experience from the central Maldives.
Diving is possible throughout the year, although conditions and marine encounters change with the monsoons, tides and location. From a first dive on a calm house reef to advanced channel dives and encounters in the open blue, there is no single way to experience diving in the Maldives.
